If you have ever used an Index or wells index machine, You know it makes a bridgeport look like a barbie doll. the 6 quil travel is an awsome thig to have, it can often save you time by not having to move your table to change from a drill chuck to boring head or what ever.

Jul 30, 2017 I learned you can pick up a Wells Index 745 with a 2 ton cherry picker too LOL. I ended up with the mill, some kind of rotary table with swappable surfaces , one is like a lathe chuck, and one is a flat plate with grooves, made by Rutland.

Jan 03, 2017 Its in Enid, OK - about 300 miles away. The photos were horrible but I was able to determine that 1 it was an Index Model 645, 2 it came with a milling vise and a rotary table 3 it had a power feed. The seller didnt know much about the machine, so was unable to answer my questions about spindle taper, wear, etc. But he only wanted 700 for it.

It shipped with a table power feed, 12 HP single phase motor and 9 Brown and Sharpe spindle taper. The spindlequill feed was an option that was not ordered on this mill. A manual for your machine is 42.00 plus 5.50 shipping.
Nov 10, 2014 My dad is slowing down his machine shop and he gave me a Wells-Index 745 vertical mill. I am going to convert this to a 110V motor and get rid of the power feeds. The power feeds are 14hp 3 phase, my garage does not even have a 220 line so those are out along with the 3ph motor.
